2mm Thinnest Halal Pizza at Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre

Helmed by a couple, Daren Oliveiro and Vivien Liem, halal-certified ButterNut first blossomed through word-of-mouth. Slowly but surely, ButterNut was noticed by the media for its one-of-a-kind halal pizzas. Taking pride in his creation, Daren (an eurasian who speaks fluent english, mandarin and even hokkien) assures that we can never find a pizza thinner than his. The number of trials he went through to achieve the thinnest crust pizza was remarkable.

Daren handmakes all his pizzas from scratch and here are some of the must-trys: Butternut Chicken Pizza, Truffle Mushroom Pizza and Smoked Duck Pizza. Known to be constantly innovating, Daren pushed his limits by creating the thinnest pizza ever. So thin that it is so crisp and snap-able, you wouldn’t feel that it’s sinful. Butternut Chicken Pizza

One day, a customer told Daren that she couldn’t get anything on his menu because the rest seemed uninteresting to her. That instant, he told her to give him a moment while he brainstormed something that’s not on the menu. Ever since then, this customer came back to order the same butternut chicken pizza over and over again. That’s when Darren knew he could include this in his menu as well!

It’s not difficult to understand why people love this unique Butternut Chicken Pizza. The hearty sweetness from the butternut was a refreshing change to the usual pizza and the chicken gave the healthy pizza a contrast!

Truffle Mushroom Pizza

Soon, it became even a hit amongst the younger ones. Darren shared that children will come to his stall and bug their parents to order a pizza from ButterNut. The adults, on the other hand, love his Truffle Mushroom Pizza. Darren revealed that he only added truffle oil after the baking is done as heat will diminish the essence of truffle, that’s why the aromatic truffle fragrance hit us right in our noses the moment it was served. This was snatched the most amongst us, because the truffle flavour was so significant with the baked cheese and mushrooms!

Last pizza we would like to recommend for those who love savoury pizza is the Smoked Duck Pizza.

It’s rare to see smoked duck pizza in the hawker centre scene, though it is quite common in hotels or pizzeria restaurants. Drizzled with honey mandarin sauce and savoury smoked duck, this pizza is worth trying! The house-made hoisin sauce makes you go back for more!

Recently, Daren explored pastas too! One of them was Ham Baked Spaghetti with Chicken Chop (the only non-spicy pasta on the menu).

With a tangy tomato base, the pasta that had been loaded with cheese and a slab of chicken chop was baked to almost perfection. Nothing fancy about the tomato sauce, but the chicken chop was baked just at the right temperature and time that the skin turned extremely crispy and fragrant but the meat remained juicy and succulent.

The generous amount of cheese emulsified the pasta altogether, making every bite almost cheese-pullable. The baked golden brown of the cheese helped to elevate the savouriness, so the heart of a cheesy food-lover like me had been won over completely.
