Dim Dim Sum in JB
If you live in woodlands good on you because that means you’re closer to these delicious Baked BBQ Pork Buns (than say a Tim Ho Wan store), these crisp, gratifying buns from JB cost a mere SG $0.70 cents each which is a fraction of what it will cost here in Singapore.Located just about 20 mins drive from JB Woodlands Custom , Dim Dim Sum in JB, Skudai Malaysia serves up a dimsum selection that is made from scratch by the two chef-owners 6 days in the week. Personally I think it is well worth the trip… I mean how often do you find fresh dimsum here in Singapore, and all made by hand? Even the dough is made fresh and I have video proof. For RM6.20 you get 3 delicious baked BBQ pork buns 🙂
What’s more: drenched in chilli and vinegar, the chilli oil chive dumplings were surprisingly satisfying RM5.20. The skin of all their dumplings are thin, tender and mixed with the fillings …its super delicious. They even have vegetarian dumplings on their menu 🙂
I highly recommend the Pork Ribs with plum sauce too RM4.80, which I felt was more tender and fragrant compared to their ginger and wine chicken, and last but not least, the 流沙包 aka salted egg custard buns are really the bomb. I tried this with my 2 colleagues, both of whom gave the thumb-sup. William in particular, doesn’t eat sweet sugary stuff like that but commented that it was good! A tray of 3 pcs sells for RM5.00, I would probably eat 2 trays all by myself or something because the salted egg packs a punch. It was a smooth, light, savoury sweet pairing, nothing too “gelat”.
